What are Preschool Personality Portraits?
This approach provides a fresh, modern update to school/daycare/preschool portraits. It differs from the typical posed photos that other school photography companies might offer. I ensure children are comfortable and relaxed by spending an extra moment or two chatting and playing. I take the time to create photos that show each child’s personality, capturing unique images of smiles (or not!) and genuine expressions - with the outdoors as the backdrop, and natural lighting that allows the light on the child’s face to shine.
How does it all work?
Photo day happens over one day, organized to best suit your schedule. Photos happen outdoors, so as to not interrupt the day’s routine as much as possible. Parents are aware ahead of time, so they can dress their children accordingly if they wish. Every child is photographed (unless a parent opts out, or a child is just not into it, which is totally fine!).
Everything else operates online. Families are linked to an online gallery to view their child’s images, usually 8-10, presented in colour and black & white - about 2 weeks after photo day. Families can order prints and packages online, right from the viewing gallery. I also provide boutique product choices such as canvases, and ‘fun’ stuff like keychains and magnets. Prints and products are delivered to the daycare. Information describing the shooting day procedures and photo ordering process will be provided to you to be distributed to families via email.
I undertake any communication from parents, from start to finish, once the daycare sends the initial announcement email.
Are the images and products expensive for families?
I offer competitive rates (compared with traditional school photos), and nothing is due up front. All ordering is due once families view their images and place an order. Families can purchase individual prints and digital images, and there are cost effective packages available as well.
Are there any benefits to the daycare centre?
Yes! It’s a great fundraising option: 10% of sales go directly to the daycare to use as you wish.
What time of year do you conduct photos?
Any time! We can schedule photo day any time during the year. Fall (September/October) is great because it’s usually the start of a new season at daycare, while spring (May/June) can be an option too, as it’s often the end of a season and sometimes the end of a child’s time at the centre.
