Frequently Asked Questions

What is Lifestyle School Photography for Kindergarten/Grade 3 Grad Photos?

This approach provides a fresh, modern update to school portraits. It differs from the typical posed photos that other school photography companies might offer. I ensure children are comfortable and relaxed by spending an extra moment or two chatting with them. I take the time to create photos that show a child’s personality, capturing unique images of smiles and genuine expressions. A cap, gown and ‘diploma’ are provided to be photographed in. I offer the option to have students photographed indoor with a solid grey or white backdrop, or outdoors with a natural background (decided by the school).

Benefit to the school
10% of sales would go directly to the school as a fundraiser, or simply a donation from Sarah Bell Photography.

How does it work?
This is an optional sign-up offering. Parents pre-register online for their child’s photos, using a link to my website. There is a $10 sitting fee to reserve their spot. The school assigns the space, and assists with organizing the schedule of pre-registered students. Parents are sent a password protected gallery with their child’s images (6-8 poses), from which they can choose to order prints, products and digital images.

I undertake any communication from parents, from start to finish, once the school sends the initial email for pre-registration.

I would need a room in the school (empty classroom, library or gym) for the day if doing photos indoors. If outdoors, there are some nice spaces to choose from.

Timing
Option 1: Offered during the school day, pulling students out of class or during the recess/lunch breaks, for only a few minutes. There would need to be some coordination with teachers/staff to help student transitions to and from the photo location run smoothly. This will allow more students to particpate.
Option 2: Offered outside of school time (a week day evening), but still at/within the school. Likely less participation due to parents needing to be present to attend.

Are the images and products expensive?
I offer competitive rates, and nothing is due up front aside from the sitting fee. All ordering is due once families see the images. Families can order individual prints and digital images, and there are cost effective collections available as well.

What time of year do you conduct graduation photos?
Late April, May or June. If done in April or May, photos can be ready to be distributed to students before the end of the school year. Otherwise, parents may need to pay for shipping, or I can arrange local pickup/drop off.
